Leaves as Mulch


Waite is pretty serious about mulching. It suppresses weeds, conserves moisture, and, through sheet-composting, adds to the soil.

He collects them in bags every Fall and also has fenced-in bulk storage areas.


His favorite type is split-leaf maple.
These two pictures show part of one year's gathering.
